I am certified as an Advanced Professional Class A Clubmaker by the Professional
CLUBMAKERS' Society (PCS). The PCS is a worldwide, independent, nonprofit
organization solely dedicated to maintaining the traditions and quality
of superior craftsmanship while combining today's technology to produce
the ultimate in custom made golf equipment. I have also been honored
as the PCS 2004 Southeastern Regional Clubmaker of the Year and the
2000 Northeast clubmaker of the Year.
To obtain any PCS Class A Certification, one must pass an extensive
written exam; then take a practical test (building clubs, fitting golfers,
club repairs, USGA Club Rules, etc.). I hold all three PCS Certifications:
PCS Class A Clubmaker, PCS Class A Club Fitter, and PCS Class A Club
Repairer. A a result of holding all 3 certifications, I am designated
as a PCS Class A Advanced Professional Clubmaker.
Additionally, I am accredited by the Golf Clubmakers Association
(GCA) as an Advanced Clubmaker. GCA accreditation requires passing extensive
written tests and attending industry recognized schools. Advanced Clubmaker
is the highest of the 3 accreditation levels (the other two being Accredited
Clubmaker and Professional Clubmaker) offered by the GCA. I was also
honored as The GCA 1997 Eastern United States Clubmaker of the Year.
A person may be a supporting member of GCA and/or PCS without being
qualified or certified. So be sure the clubmaker holds accreditation
and certification levels, not just membership in the organization.
I am the only clubmaker in the greater Charleston area who holds
all levels of certification and accreditation that the PCS and GCA offer.
